New Geoff Palmer Single

We swung by our friends at Alternative Control before our show in Chicago a couple weeks ago and recorded a live set in their studio. I think it turned out pretty sick.

Daniel James Gang Rides Again

My new solo single “Misery” is out now. I had initially written this song for the next Indonesian Junk LP before we had broken up, and I’m stoked as hell that it’s finally seeing the light of day.

Logan Stang plays drums, and Miski Dee sings backing vocals. Ian Olvera recorded the drums and mixed everything over at Wire & Vice, and it was mastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering.

Expect some more tracks over the coming weeks and months. There’s currently a 45 with “Misery” and one more song in queue at the pressing plant that will be coming out on Sioux Guitars . Also, I’m going to be playing a pair of shows with the Daniel James Gang to celebrate the new song in Milwaukee on May 31st at Bremen Cafe and in Chicago on June 1st at Liar's Club.

So Long, And Thanks For All The Drink Tickets

Despite previous claims (which were at the time truthful) that we were only taking a break from shows, Indonesian Junk has decided to call it quits as a band. It’s been a great 8 1/2 years playing with Mike, Johnny, and all of the other amazing people who have been in and out of this band. There’s no bad blood or anything, we’re all cool with each other and just decided that it was time. 

Thank you to everyone who came to our shows, bought our records and t-shirts, fed us, let us sleep on their floors and couches, booked our shows, put out our records, played us on their radio shows, wrote about us in their zines and blogs, etc. Extra special thanks to Malibu Lou and Lisa at Rum Bar Records for all the amazing work they’ve done for us and Shane at Howl Street Recordings for always making us sound so cool.

And of course thanks to Mike, Johnny, Justin, David, Miski, Mark, Adam, Jim, DJ, Terry, and Tony for putting up with all my shit for as long as you did, and never making me drive the van once.

I got a couple of real cool musical projects in the works that I’m not ready to talk about just yet, and I’m sure the other guys got stuff coming up too. In the meantime you can catch me playing solo shows and doing stuff with Chinese Telephones.

Tomb Of Nightmares - Deluxe Edition

I ended up coloring the first issue of Tomb Of Nightmares recently. I didn’t initially intend for it to be a b&w comic, but since I’m still pretty new to the whole art thing I got real intimidated when I first tried to color it and thought all my colors looked real ugly. While working on issue two I began experimenting with colors again and really liked the results. After awhile I decided to go back and take another try at the first issue, and I was a lot more happy with it this time around.

Live Indonesian Junk Video

Here's the video from Indonesian Junk's livestream last night. Thanks to WMSE and to Anodyne Coffee for having us. The audio cuts out for the first 4 minutes and 40 seconds, so unfortunately "You Won't See Me" isn't included in full, but the rest of the show went off without a hitch.

Upcoming Indonesian Junk Livestream

Indonesian Junk's next local show is going to be broadcast live on 91.7 WMSE in Milwaukee and will also be streamed live on wmse.org (audio) and on WMSE's YouTube and Vimeo channels (video). The show is Tuesday, November 2nd at Anodyne on Bruce Street in Milwaukee and is open to the public. Our set and the broadcast starts promptly at 7pm.

We also have a couple more shows coming up in November. We'll be returning to Detroit, MI Kenosha, WI, and Racine, WI, and will also be playing a short afternoon set as part of Milwaukee Record's Halftime series at Cactus Club in Milwaukee. Also, Chinese Telephones is gonna be at Gainesville Fest this weekend.

Chinese Telephones at The Fest
